Keeping secrets.

Looking at a picture I have of Lou Gehrig memorabilia, a noticed the curious stamp on his bat. Along with Lou Gehrig's name is inscribed the words "Kren" and "Syracuse NY". I recently read Gehrig's biography, "Luckiest Man," a brilliant book. But it didn't mention Syracuse or the Kren bat. I thought I was really on to something.

So I started hunting around in the first place I always hunt: the Internet.

And Google led me to Bud Ransom, a guy out in Oregon who knows about all there is to know about Kren bats. So much so that he says he used to speak with Joe Kren Jr. about twice a week, until Joe Kren Jr. died a couple of years ago.
