Like hundreds of other Syracusians, I was eager to take in a little afternoon sun Downtown on Thursday, April 17. It was a great feeling to see people enjoying a hotdog and lemonade outside in Columbus Circle, grabbing an afternoon beer at Clark’s and enjoying the tables around the fountain in Clinton Square. As I wondered around the fountain though, which will be turned on today, I couldn’t help but think to myself, time to turn on the community waterpark.

A few weeks back I became interested in what exactly those large bright -yellow metal bins labeled Planet Aid that I see all over the Syracuse area were.
I of course did what every intrepid investigator these days does and I googled "Planet Aid" to see if they had a homepage. They did. The website explained that they are a not- for -profit organization that collects used clothing, shoes and small toys, which they then turn around and sell to thrift stores and similar organizations to turn a profit, which is then used to support programs in poor African villages and various Planet Aid projects around the world. The program tells people that not only are they helping others, but they are recycling as well... CATEGORY: General Society
