Once again it's that time of the year when sanity is tossed aside in favor of madness. My wife announced to me last week that I will be taking her shopping on "Black Friday" and of course being the faithful and obedient spouse that I am as well as a person who knows what battles he can't win I will do as I'm told. The best thing about being an Artist and a former Marine is that I always have a sketch book with me and I have some survival skills that could come in handy if I'm trapped in the toy isle. While my wife is crowd surfing to the Easy Bake Ovens I'll find a corner to hide in and observe all the fine examples of humanity that pass by. I'll wait until the 24th of December like most men to finish my shopping...
I blame it all on Jim Henson! If it wasn't for him and all the people on Sesame Street I may have actually grown up and I don't know about you but as far as I'm concerned most grown ups aren't all that impressive. Imagination, creativity and a passion to follow my dreams are at the core of who I am. I have never been as happy as I am when I am living up to my own expectations of myself and Sesame Street played a big part in giving me the spark...
I appreciate Sarah Palin for what she represents but unfortunately like a lot of people who get involved in the world of politics she has become a parody of her self. On the surface you see an independent strong willed American loving, God loving , Family Loving, Gun Loving woman who doesn't think the average American has enough say in the world of politics and that liberals and political correctness have brought our nation to the edge. In truth she is an opportunist who like a lot of people who have come before her has found a way to make a great deal of money off of the dreams and fears of others...
I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that even the snow has decided to stay away from Central New York this year, at least so far, but as an avid hiker and some one who spent half his adult life in the desert it is a nice change of pace. Eventually it will return and those who spend the summer complaining about the heat and the winter complaining about the cold will once again have balance but for the moment I for one have no problem with this aspect of global climate change...
