China has alot of questionable policies and to some people in the west it will never be the type of country that they would like it to be, but maybe the Olympics will help to show the world that it is not what they thought it was and if only for a brief moment maybe a little bit of understanding will help to bridge whatever gaps exist. It doesn't hurt to hope! They appear to be attempting to improve their image in the world as well as the lives of at least some of their citizens. Time will tell however if these improvements will last when the Olympics are over, but for now at least it's a start...
Further proof that history continues to repeat itself. If Russia was that upset about the amount of attention that China is getting did they really need to start blowing up things...
The key word in this election appears to be fear. One guy tells you how the world will fall apart if you vote for his opponent while the other tells you that we shouldn't fear change. The one thing I fear is an uninformed voter. No matter who you vote for please look past the rhetoric and think before you push the button, pull the lever or put the slip of paper in the box. Fear should not be the reason you vote or don't vote...
