Canastota joins canal 'clean sweep'

The public is invited to join the Canastota Canal Town Corporation in celebrating Earth Day by participating in the fourth annual New York State Canal Clean Sweep on Saturday April 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Village officials and 30 members from the Canastota High School National Honor Society, FFA and the Future Business leaders of America, have signed up to take part in the event. Groups will meet at the museum’s Education Center, 110 Canal St.

More than 80 communities, trail groups and businesses across the state Canal System are also participating in the Canal Clean Sweep by hosting local clean up activities in canal parks, along public promenades and on Canalway Trail segments in their region.
