Classes rewarded for reading

Elden Elementary School wrapped up its PARP reading program with an assembly on Feb. 25, at which the classes that had read the most minutes during the three week program were recognized. In total, Elden students read for 199,100 minutes.

The following is a breakdown of the greatest number of minutes for each grade. These classrooms each received a special trophy for their achievements:

Kindergarten – Deborah Froehlich’s afternoon class - 6,711 total minutes

First grade – Casey Price’s class - 8,445 total minutes

Second grade – Linda Kotz’s class – 7,837 total minutes

Third grade – Daniel Hyland’s class – 12,319 total minutes

Fourth grade – Aaron Bullis’ class – 13,811 total minutes

Fifth grade – Don Rindfuss’ class – 13,984 total minutes

Two classrooms had 100 percent participation in the program. They were Susan Jerome’s first-grade class and Mary Beth Cavalieri’s third-grade class.
