A rainy semi-live day 1

Despite some internet problems (which I pretty much expected), my first day at the ESG's went pretty well. Tomorrow will be family day for me as my husband and stepson are tagging along for the ride. We'll be covering ice hockey first thing in the morning and a variety of events in the afternoon. I shouldn't have a problem posting live at Broome Community College (where ice hockey is held) because my brother is a student there so I should be able to access the wireless for a live feed...

"Communication Studies"

I’ve always thought of myself as a good communicator. I mean, that was my major, communication studies. I took countless courses about “communication theory.” There’s all types of mass communication. Television, radio and of course, newspapers.
To get into college I wrote an essay about communicating with a five-year-old Japanese girl and learning the art of nonverbal communication.
It’s amazing, however, how like most things in life, you never stop improving your communication skills. The new baby has taught me how to read the subtle differences in his noises or facial expressions to determine what he needs. A marriage brings with it all sorts of communication difficulties: Does “yeah, sure” mean “yes?”

Living through my sister

Being the oldest of four has a lot of ups. I got to be the babysitter (the boss), I got to do things first, I was considered 'responsible.' Of all these things, I recently learned the greatest joy of having a sister ten years younger than myself; I get to relive my teenage years without the stress.
My sister is falling in love, or falling into infatuation, or developing a crush...whatever. The point is, it's great. She's excited and floating and dancing around the house.
She's reading into everything he says and twisting it into a sign that he loves her...
